The future of filmmaking has come alive before our eyes with VR live-action filmmaking of Disney’s Lion King. Jon Favreau has shot the entire film inside the virtual African terrain and it is the start of an evolution in creation.

Crazy Summer Activities have begun

The temps have risen and it is time to eat light. A traditional summer meal is being debated: egg salad sandwiches. What additional ingredient would make you say “yuck”?

When it gets hot the crazy stuff starts happening. Cleveland just had a 4.0 earthquake, strong winds knocked a building crane into an apt building in Texas, and a helicopter crash-landed on top of a Manhattan building.

Kris has been working on the application and video submission for the 43North grant. 43North is a startup competition in Buffalo, NY that invests $5 million each year in companies with a deployable product, strong team, and a desire to relocate to Buffalo for at least a year. They’ve invested in 44 companies since coming on the scene as part of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Buffalo Billion initiative in 2014.

Conan Exiles was a free game on the PS4 recently, and Kris has been playing it instead of RDR2 and Madden. The game’s constant violence and use of slave labor has Andrea questioning the game’s impact on society.

Kris showed his mad card skills over the weekend and placed in a couple of final tables of NL Texas Hold ‘Em. We took a little video last time Andrea fed the goats. Credit Card Scammer tried his luck with Kris and lost!

Memorial Day Weekend

This week Kris had a Bills Twitter beef that turned into bromance over the loss of a beloved pet. Andrea began assisting a local fashion designer since returning from the event. Meetings in Malibu have us encouraged.

It’s time to continue the conversation we started with ‘A Night to Inspire’. Most of the interviews from the event are posted in a playlist on YouTube right now (a couple of interviews are still to come) and Kris will upload a new one to Facebook each day. Kris will also be composing a few blog posts this week to go with the interviews.
Next week, the conversation will focus on ‘why blockchain is Hollywood’s worst nightmare’.

A recent article titled “Why Disney+ Freaks Me Out About the Future of Streaming” lead us to remember that years ago when Gratcast was still in its youth Kris predicted this was the natural evolution, and why it’s a good thing.
